Virus outbreak maps PDF Print E-mail

The following maps show outbreaks of the squirrelpox virus and the adenovirus in red squirrels around the UK.

Squirrelpox update (October 2009)

The good news from Formby is that there have been no more positive cases of squirrelpox there since last Christmas.

There have been only 2 cases confirmed so far this year in Northumberland and only 7 cases have come from Cumbria. Not all associated with outbreaks this year.

Unfortunately, the picture in Scotland is not looking so rosy with a further 13 cases confirmed from the outbreak around Drumlanrig Castle and another from Lockerbie, making a total of 26 this year alone.
